The simple answer is nature. Nature is what inspired me to start photography, and it's what continues to motivate me. My main focuses are wildlife and nature scapes. They both present their own challenges; I focus a lot more intently on the quality of the photo with nature scapes, but with wildlife, it's really just about the thrill of capturing photos of wild animals, for me. I do a lot of editing with Adobe Lightroom, but editing is half the fun in photography for me. My photos become canvases for me to do something artistic, enhance the photo, make it unique, etc. My mission behind the "art" of my work is to raise a little consciousness and get people to care about nature a little bit more, and that motivates me a lot, too.

Terri Hebert

Terri works professionally as a faculty member of the School of Education at Indiana University South Bend. She has held various administrative and teaching roles since beginning in the education profession many years ago. Her passion is science, and she loves to incorporate nature and place into her teaching efforts. She created and facilitates a summer Study Abroad Iceland experience for adults of all ages. Personally, Terri loves to travel and explore new sites - and while exploring, she always has her camera by her side, just in case something peaks her curiosity. Self-taught (with the assistance of trained photographers along the way), Terri has had her work published in calendars in Arkansas and Indiana, as well as in small, intimate art galleries. Her background in art helps to guide her eye towards the natural landscape. Terri is also a spiritual companion and relies on nature to help facilitate the spiritual practices of individuals and small groups.

Experiencing the wonder and beauty of wandering the lakeshore or driving dirt roads and catching an incredible sunset or the detail of a new flower, photography gets me outside and immersed in the elements of nature. Beauty is where you find it... and I am blessed to be able to live in such a diverse area with nearby Lake Michigan, and acres of wetlands, bogs, prairies, and forest preserves!

Born and raised "on the farm" I have always enjoyed nature. Post retirement has given me the opportunity to get out there more, and explore. Getting in a hike is a great way to unwind and get away from life's issues for a while, and you never know what you might see.  It only made sense to start taking a camera along to share nature's beauty I find with others.

As a busy “IT guy”, I’ve been using a camera since the early 1980’s to help me slow down, decompress, and really take in the beautiful patterns, colors, and interesting compositions in the world around me. My photos mostly center on nature, having always had a love of the outdoors and an interest in bicycling, hiking, and backpacking, although I also enjoy recording the patterns that I see in architecture. While I do not currently have a website, you can see some of my pictures on the Harbor Country Hikers’ website.

I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician for over 15 years I enjoy working with pets and their families. In my free time I have a leash in one hand and a camera in the other. I enjoy adventures with my four-legged travel companion. I love exploring the trails and preserves that surround Lake Michigan and beyond. I use my camera to capture images of my pup on our adventures. Thanks to events sponsored by COL I now use my camera to capture even more detail while immersed in the beauty of the world we traverse.

Photography offers me a deeper, more intimate perspective on my life experiences, prompting me to savor the beauty of my surroundings and pause in moments of curiosity. Living along a strip of land sandwiched between Lake Michigan and the Galien River Marsh provides unparalleled opportunities to observe the rich biodiversity and breathtaking scenery of the place I call home. While my travel photography allows me to tuck away cherished memories and create a visual diary of unforgettable encounters with the rest of the world.
