Get Ready for the Live Bat ENCOUNTER!
Chikaming Open Lands presents The Organization for Bat Conservation in a fascinating program introducing you to bats of the world! It's a safe bat show without cages where you'll meet examples of our local bats, as well as more exotic species including the Malaysian Gigantic Flying Fox Bat with a 6-foot wingspan!
OBC's founder and director, Rob Mies is an adventurous scientist, conservationist, TV personality, and bat expert who has focused his passion on educating and entertaining people about one of the most unique and misunderstood animals in the world. His energetic personality explains why he is such a popular presenter. Mies has appeared on many television shows with his furry, winged friends including The Tonight Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Fox & Friends, and Martha Stewart.

Preserved with Your Help!
When Dan Dale and Covenant Farm worked with Chikaming Open Lands (COL) several years ago to put a 29-acre conservation easement on part of their property, he was very excited. It was yet another step in the 30-year project to restore the farm and a part of a larger dream to improve water quality in the Galien River. A segment of the Galien River runs through this property and includes an oxbow (a bow shaped bend in the river), a heron rookery, and some rare and state threatened species of plants.
Then in 2010, the 25-acre property on the other side of the river and directly adjacent to his own came up for sale, he again worked with COL to acquire that property and put a conservation easement on it. Read the full story here.
