Our third annual Barn Benefit!
Saturday, September 22, 2012
at Judith Racht's Niles Barn
Thanks to everyone who made our "A Good Barn..." benefit a smashing success, surpassing all expectations! Please take a look at the photos from the Harbor Country News and New Buffalo Times to remember all the fun.
We are now searching for next year's barn! If you know of a barn you would like us to consider using, please let us know by sending an e-mail to info@chikamingopenlands.org. We really appreciate your help!

This year's barn is part of Harbert gallerist Judith Racht's family farm in Niles, Michigan. Set on 60 acres of farmland, the property began as a stagecoach stop some 200 years ago. The framework of the barn, in fact, dates to that incarnation.

About five years ago, Judith engaged architect Austin Depree, and together they rethought the farm for the 21st century. Completely clad in white, the restored barn building and other new buildings honor history while also acknowledging Judith's life in fine art.
Catch a look at the barn in the summer issue of Chicago Home + Garden, then plan to join us for a spectacular cocktail party and raffle.
