Protecting the Land
Eleven years ago, Chikaming Open Lands protected its first five acres. Today, COL works with landowners at the local level and has protected 1,072 acres. We are achieving our mission -- Protecting the Land ~ Preserving our Heritage.
Our protected lands fall into two categories: Preserves (lands actually owned and maintained by Chikaming Open Lands) and conservation easements (lands owned by private landowners).
