The Church of the Mediator Conservation Easement covers 2.10 acres. Native plants include Astor, Dogwood, Spicebush, Bergamot, Elderberry, Vervain, Milkweed, and Ironweed. Native trees include Maple, Oak, Walnut, Hickory, Cedar, Hop Hornbeam, Black Cherry and American Elm.
This type of forest cover, located near the shore of Lake Michigan, serves as an important stopover site for many species of birds. It is also important for protecting water quality by filtering and retaining runoff before it enters Lake Michigan, and maintaining scenic open space. It has significant value as a scenic buffer along the Red Arrow Highway.
